Last year I started to expand our staff work to move off the printed page and on to social media. We began to create fun video slideshows of our photographs and even videos we filmed when out covering the school, and some hilarious video promos for yearbook sales. Some of our videos were kindly aired on the video newscast, which all students watch daily, by our Video Broadcast teacher. My staff was the largest in history this year (at its max of 29) and I attribute it to our videos and visibility the staff got.
Keeping this pattern a live, we started the year with a spooky fall picture day promo with traditional comedic twist. The idea was inspired by the phrase "wear your best smile" or put on your best smile" We cut out printed smiles from a model and added two-sided tape to the backs of these grins. My staff and other students then put on these smiles. The result its pretty creepy and hilarious.

My staff and I used Canva to create the video. If you have not used Canva as a video editor you really should check it out. It uses presentation slides to build a video so it is familiar if you've ever made some Canva slides, but you have to adjust to the learning curve of adding music, transitions, and animations. Once you've done that, the possibilities are so cool!
